Placement of Veneers
Because they are made from porcelain, veneers are able to deflect stains and reflect light the same way as natural tooth enamel. After your initial exam and veneer consultation with Dr. Bruce Nelson, the placement of veneers usually takes two visits. At the first visit, your teeth will be prepared for the veneers. A very small amount of enamel is removed from the front surface of the tooth. This compensates for the thickness of the veneers and ensures a comfortable fit. Finally, a custom impression will be taken to send to our highly skilled dental artist technicians at our dental lab.
Caring for Your Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers require much of the same care as natural teeth. This includes daily brushing and flossing and regular professional cleanings. Additionally, Dr. Nelson may recommend that you stay away from hard foods such as raw carrots or nuts that may damage the veneers.
